The full compatibility matrix

The reason there is no universal Hayati pod is that each range was engineered around a different capacity, a different coil resistance and a different airflow path. A 4ml Mini Ultra pod and a 22ml Pro Ultra Plus pod are not the same object in different sizes — they are different products with different internal architecture, different contact geometry and different magnet positions. Treat the range name on your device as the only thing that matters when you order.

Within the Pro Ultra Plus range, everything fits everything

All 52 Pro Ultra Plus pods share one format. Any Pro Ultra Plus pod will fit any Pro Ultra Plus device regardless of which flavour kit the device originally came with, and regardless of whether the pod is a dual pairing or a single flavour. The Shisha 30000 pod at 5mg uses the same fitting as the 20mg pods, so you can move between strengths on the same hardware.

How to identify which device you own

If you are not sure which Hayati you have, work through this:

• Check the printing on the device body. The range name is printed on it — "Pro Ultra Plus", "Pro Max Plus", "Rubik", "Mini Ultra" or "Quokka".
• Look at the mouthpiece. Only the Pro Ultra Plus has a rotating collar with two seated positions below the mouthpiece. If your mouthpiece does not turn, it is not a Pro Ultra Plus.
• Check the old pod. The easiest method of all — the pod you are replacing has the range and capacity printed on it. A 22ml pod is Pro Ultra Plus. 12ml is Pro Max Plus 6000 or Rubik. 7ml is Pro Max Plus 4000. 4ml is Mini Ultra.
• Look for a fill port. If your pod has a rubber-plugged filling hole, you have a Quokka and you need bottled liquid, not prefilled pods.

What happens if you buy the wrong pod

Nothing dangerous, but nothing useful either. The pod will not seat, the magnets will not align, and the contact pins will not meet. Do not push harder. Bent or flattened contact pins on the device are the usual outcome of forcing a mismatched pod, and that is a hardware fault that is not covered by anything. Put it down, check the matrix above, and order the right one.

What is inside a Pro Ultra Plus pod

The three vessels

The pod is not a single 22ml tank. It contains a 2ml working chamber sitting directly above the mesh coil, and two sealed 10ml reserves. Only the 2ml chamber is connected to the airway; the reserves simply hold liquid and release it downwards as the chamber empties. That arrangement is why the product is UK-compliant — the pod capacity limit here is 2ml, and the container limit for nicotine-containing liquid is 10ml, both of which are satisfied.

The mesh coil

Mesh presents a wide, flat heating surface against the wick rather than the narrow contact of a round wire. In a pod that has to deliver 25,000 puffs, that matters: it vaporises more evenly and holds flavour better deep into the pod's life. The coil is sealed into the pod and cannot be replaced separately. When the pod is done, the coil goes with it.

The rotating collar

Two feed channels, two seated positions, one open at a time. Rotating the collar selects which 10ml reserve feeds the chamber and closes the other off completely. A faint click or gurgle from the pod is the valve working, not a fault. The practical consequence is that pods behave best stored and used upright, and can over-fill the chamber if left on their side, shaken, or put through a big temperature or pressure change.

Replacing a pod, step by step

1. Take the old pod off. It is magnetic — pull it straight up rather than twisting it off, which puts unnecessary load on the collar.
2. Wipe the contacts. Dry tissue on the top of the battery and, if you are storing the old pod, on its base too. Residue on the contacts is a common cause of a new pod appearing not to work.
3. Unseal the new pod. Silicone bung out of the base, sticker off the mouthpiece. Keep the bung if you plan to store a part-used pod later.
4. Seat it firmly. Push until the magnets take it and it sits flush with the housing. A proud pod is not making contact.
5. Stand it upright for five minutes. The chamber primes from the reserve by gravity. Skipping this is the most common reason a new pod tastes weak or harsh on the first few puffs.
6. Prime the wick. Two or three gentle draws without inhaling deeply, before you vape properly.
7. Set the collar to whichever reserve you want first. On a single-flavour pod there is nothing to set.

When to replace a pod

There is no timer and no indicator, so go by these signs:

• The viewing window shows both reserves empty and the flavour has gone flat. That is the pod finished, and it is the normal reason to change.
• Persistent burnt taste with liquid still visible. That is a failed coil rather than an empty pod, and no amount of resting will fix it. Contact us if it happens early in a pod's life.
• Flavour has faded but liquid remains. Usually palate fatigue rather than the pod. Try switching to the other reserve, or take a day on something else, before you write the pod off.
• Vapour has dropped off. Check the charge first. A low cell is the most common cause and it is not a pod problem.

Why replacement pods exist at all

It is worth understanding why this range is sold as pods as well as kits, because it explains the whole economics of the format and it is not just a merchandising decision.

The rules that shaped the product

UK regulation places three hard limits on nicotine vaping products: a pod or tank may hold no more than 2ml, nicotine strength may not exceed 20mg/ml, and any separately sold container of nicotine-containing e-liquid may not exceed 10ml. A 22ml pod that met none of those would be illegal to sell here.

The Pro Ultra Plus meets all three by splitting the liquid. The vessel connected to the coil and the airway is 2ml. The liquid is 20mg/ml. Ice is a texture, not a flavour

Adding "Ice" to a profile changes how it feels rather than what it tastes of. The honest summary: refilling is cheaper per millilitre and gives you complete freedom over flavour and strength, but you fill a 2ml pod every few hours rather than fitting a 22ml pod every couple of weeks. If you value not thinking about your vape, prefilled wins comfortably. Building a pod rotation

People who buy pods rather than kits tend to end up with a more considered approach to flavour, because they are buying liquid rather than hardware. A few patterns worth borrowing.

Two pods, one device

Keep a second pod part-used and stored upright with the silicone bung refitted, and swap between them. Because each pod carries two reserves, that gives you four flavours on one device. Pods store well — a part-used pod with the bung in and kept somewhere cool and dark will be fine for weeks.

Anchor and rotation

Pick one profile you never get tired of as your anchor — for most people that is a straightforward iced fruit or a mint — and rotate a second, more interesting pod alongside it. The anchor is what you fall back on when the experimental one turns out to be a mistake.

The whole argument for buying pods rather than kits is arithmetic, so here it is plainly.

Two things worth noticing. Rubik pods are marginally cheaper per millilitre, but the Pro Ultra Plus is comfortably the cheapest per thousand puffs of anything in the catalogue — the mesh coil and restricted airflow simply extract more puffs per millilitre. And Mini Ultra pods, despite the low unit price, are by a distance the most expensive way to vape over time. That is fine if you want a small device; it is worth knowing before you make it your main one.

Against buying kits repeatedly: at one pod a fortnight, a year of pods after one initial kit costs around £212, while a year of buying kits costs around £312. Same liquid, £100 difference, entirely down to repurchasing hardware you already own.

Why your real puff count will not be 25,000

Every high-capacity pod on the market carries a puff rating and none of them are promises. Understanding where the number comes from makes it a useful comparison tool rather than a source of disappointment.

How the figure is produced

Puff ratings come from controlled testing using a fixed draw length and a fixed interval between draws — typically a short, consistent puff repeated at a steady rate. That produces a repeatable number, which is genuinely useful for comparing one product against another. It does not describe how anybody actually vapes.

What changes your real figure

• Draw length. This is the biggest single factor. A three-second draw consumes roughly half again what a two-second draw does. If you take long, slow pulls, expect to land well under the rating.
• Chain-vaping. Puffs taken in quick succession pull liquid through faster than the wick can comfortably replace, and some of it is consumed without delivering much flavour.
• Temperature. Warm liquid is thinner, wicks faster and is consumed faster. A device carried in a pocket all day gets through more than one sitting on a cool desk.

Most people land somewhere between half and three-quarters of a rated figure across any high-puff product, and that is normal rather than a defect. There is also no shame in preferring a smaller device — the Mini Ultra exists for exactly that reason, and costs more per millilitre precisely because it is doing a different job.

Nicotine strength in Pro Ultra Plus pods

Almost every pod in this range is 20mg/ml nicotine salt — the UK legal maximum. Salt nicotine is smoother on the throat than freebase at that strength, which is why every high-strength prefilled product uses it, and the device's restricted mouth-to-lung draw is tuned to match.

The exception is the Pro Ultra Plus Shisha 30000 pod at 5mg, which carries a higher rated puff count of around 30,000 because a lower strength is consumed more slowly. It fits the same devices, so you can run it on hardware you already own.

Pod troubleshooting

New pod, no vapour

Check in this order: is the device charged; is the pod fully seated; are the contacts clean and dry on both pod and device; is your finger over the air intake. If it still does nothing, remove the pod, wipe both sets of contacts and refit. A genuinely dead pod straight out of the packet is rare, so exhaust the simple causes first.

New pod, weak or harsh

The chamber has not primed. Stand the device upright for five minutes and take a few gentle draws without inhaling deeply. Firing hard on a partly dry wick is also how you damage a new coil, so it is worth being patient with a fresh pod.

Burnt taste mid-life

Slow down — chain-vaping outruns the wick. Rest the device for ten minutes and try again. If the burnt taste is still there afterwards on a pod with liquid visible in the window, the coil has failed and you should get in touch rather than keep vaping it.

Leaking or spitback

The 2ml chamber is over-filled. Causes: the pod has been on its side, shaken, or through a temperature or pressure change. Remove the pod, tap the mouthpiece gently onto a tissue, refit, stand it upright and leave it a few minutes.

Collar stiff or stuck

Remove the pod from the device so you can hold the whole pod body, then turn steadily. Never use tools. Some resistance is deliberate so the collar does not move in a pocket.

Flavour switch is not working

Two possibilities. Either the collar is not fully seated in the second position, so the channel has not opened — turn it firmly until it detents. Or you are inside the transition window and the old flavour has not cleared the wick yet, which takes fifteen to thirty puffs.

One reserve empty, one full

That is normal if you have favoured one side. There is no way to transfer liquid between reserves, so the fix is behavioural: alternate more evenly on the next pod.

Storing spare pods

• Keep sealed pods in their packaging somewhere cool, dark and dry. Stored properly they will be fine for months.
• Store part-used pods upright with the silicone bung refitted into the base. Lying them flat is what causes the chamber to flood.
• Avoid heat and sunlight. Both degrade flavour and thin the liquid, and thin liquid leaks more readily.
• Do not decant or refill. Pro Ultra Plus pods are sealed units and are not designed to be opened or refilled. If you want to fill your own, that is what the Quokka refillable kits are for.
• Keep them away from children and pets. 20mg nicotine salt is harmful if swallowed, and a pod looks like an ordinary everyday object to a child.

Recycling pods and devices

A used pod contains a coil, wicking material and residual liquid, and a used device contains a lithium cell. Neither belongs in household waste or general recycling. Lithium cells are a documented and growing cause of fires in bin lorries and at waste processing sites, and the problem is bad enough that the waste industry has been raising it publicly for years.

Take spent pods and devices to a designated small-electricals or vape recycling point. Council household waste recycling centres accept them, many larger retailers operate battery and small-electricals take-back bins, and vape-specific collection points are increasingly common. Do not attempt to break a pod open or prise a cell out of a device. If a device is damaged, swollen, or has been in water, do not charge it — isolate it somewhere non-flammable and take it for recycling.
