What "ice" actually means on a Hayati listing

There are 92 ice-finished products in the Hayati catalogue we stock, spread across every device range and every bottled format. They are grouped here because they share one thing: a cooling agent has been layered over a flavour. What they do not share is the flavour underneath, which is why "ice" on its own tells you very little about what you are buying.

The important distinction, and the one that causes the most confusion, is that ice is not mint. A cooling agent produces a sensation of cold without contributing much flavour of its own. Mint and menthol are flavours in their own right — they taste of something. An ice-finished watermelon still tastes of watermelon, with cold sitting behind it. A mint product tastes of mint. If you buy Watermelon Ice expecting mint, or Fresh Mint expecting cooled fruit, you will be disappointed in both directions.

The practical version: if you want the fruit to stay in front, buy ice. If you want something clean and dry with no fruit at all, buy mint — Fresh Mint is available on the Rubik, Pro Max Plus and Pro Ultra Plus, as a 10ml nic salt and in both shortfill lines. If you want the sharpest, driest cold available, buy menthol, which in this catalogue means Menthol and Fresh Menthol Mojito as bottled nic salts, Double Menthol on the Pro Max Plus, and the two menthol-finished berries on the Mini Ultra.

A small number of products sit in more than one of these camps. Kiwi Cooler is tagged as both ice and menthol, and Blue Razz Mint and Lemon Mint pair mint with a fruit rather than cooling one. These are the exceptions rather than the pattern.

What cooling actually does to a flavour

Cooling agents do not change the fruit; they change how you perceive it. Three effects are consistent enough to plan around.

It suppresses perceived sweetness

The same fruit reads less sweet with a cooling finish than without one. This is why ice-finished versions of very sweet profiles often work better than their uncooled equivalents — the cold gives the sugar something to push against. It is also why people who find fruit vapes cloying tend to get on well with the ice range.

It lengthens the finish

Cooling lingers after the fruit has faded, which stretches the aftertaste. On a short, bright profile like pineapple this is a clear improvement. On a profile that already has a long finish, such as a heavy berry blend, it can make the whole thing feel drawn out.

It flattens complexity

This is the trade-off nobody mentions. Cooling tends to compress the distance between the layers of a blend, so a three-fruit profile reads more like one fruit with a cold finish. If you want to taste every component of a complex blend, uncooled is usually the better buy. If you want one clean impression, ice does that well.

How strong the cooling feels also varies with temperature and with how fast you draw. A cold device on a cold day produces a noticeably harsher cold sensation than the same pod in a warm room, which is worth knowing before you conclude a flavour is too strong.

The Rubik's 36% is the number to notice. Proportionally it is the coolest device range Hayati makes, and if a cold finish is what you are after it is both the widest ice selection at that price and the cheapest liquid in the catalogue at roughly 33p per millilitre. The Pro Ultra Plus leans warmer, with most of its 104 listings uncooled.

Where to find each ice flavour

Ice on the Rubik

Seven ice profiles, each available as a kit at £5.99 and a pod at £3.99, carrying 12ml and rated at 7000 puffs.

• Watermelon Ice — clean, watery melon sweetness with a firm cold finish. The most reordered ice profile in the range and the most dependable first choice.
• Strawberry Raspberry Ice — the catalogue's signature cooled berry, and the only flavour available on every single Hayati format.
• Pineapple Ice — sharp tropical acidity with the cold cutting the sugar. Bright rather than heavy.
• Red Apple Ice — sweet red apple rather than green, cooled rather than sharpened. Closer to apple juice than to a sour apple sweet.
• Banana Ice — soft, creamy banana against cold. The most divisive profile in the ice range; people either reorder it constantly or never touch it again.
• Lemon Cola Ice — cola with a citrus lift and a cooling finish. One of the few non-fruit ice builds anywhere in the catalogue.

This is the range to buy an ice flavour on if you already know you like it. At £3.99 for 12ml it is the cheapest per millilitre of anything in the prefilled catalogue.

Ice on the Pro Max Plus

Twelve ice kits at £7.99 and twelve matching pods at £5.49, carrying 12ml and rated at 6000 puffs. It shares six profiles with the Rubik — Watermelon Ice, Strawberry Raspberry Ice, Pineapple Ice, Red Apple Ice, Banana Ice and Vim Ice — and adds six that exist nowhere else on a device:

• Lychee Ice — floral, perfumed and delicate; the most unusual ice profile in the catalogue and quite unlike anything else in it.
• Blackberry Ice — blackberry appears almost nowhere else in the range, and it is darker and less acidic than raspberry.
• Smooth Strawberry Ice — a softer, creamier take on cooled strawberry than the sharper Strawberry Ice elsewhere.
• Kiwi Cooler — kiwi's green acidity with a menthol-leaning cold. Tagged as both ice and menthol, and it sits between the two.
• Ice Pop — the frozen-lolly profile rather than a specific fruit; sweet, simple and very cold.
• Cola Ice — caramel and spice against cold, and the closest thing to a soft drink in the range.

Ice on the Pro Ultra Plus

Nine ice kits at £11.99 and seven ice Pro Ultra Plus pods at £7.99, carrying 22ml and rated at 25000 puffs. This is where to buy an ice flavour if what you want is to stop buying pods for a while.

Single-flavour ice listings are Cherry Ice, Cola Ice, Watermelon Ice and Strawberry Raspberry Ice. The paired dual-flavour listings are Strawberry Ice / Strawberry Raspberry Ice, Cherry Ice / Peach Mango, Straw' Cranberry Cherry / Cherry Ice, Straw' Cranberry Cherry / Strawberry Raspberry Ice and Blue Razz Pineapple / Strawberry Ice.

Two of those pairings are worth calling out because they do something useful. Cherry Ice / Peach Mango puts a cooled flavour against an uncooled one in the same device, which is a genuinely good way to avoid palate fatigue without owning two devices. Blue Razz Pineapple / Strawberry Ice does the same thing in reverse. If you like ice but not constantly, these are better buys than a pairing of two ice profiles.

Note that Cherry Ice is a Pro Ultra Plus and Mini Ultra flavour. It does not appear in the Rubik or Pro Max Plus ranges at all, though it is available as a 10ml nic salt at £2.49.

Ice on the Mini Ultra

Eight ice listings across the Mini Ultra range — four kits at £3.99 and four pods at £3.49. It is the smallest ice selection of any device range and the cheapest way to test one.

The Mini Ultra is the most expensive range to run at roughly 87p per millilitre against the Rubik's 33p, so it is a poor choice for daily use of a flavour you already know. It is an excellent choice for finding out whether you like Cherry Ice before committing £11.99 to it in 25K form.

Worth knowing: the Mini Ultra also carries the only two menthol-finished fruits in the prefilled catalogue, Blueberry Straw' Menthol and Blueberry Raspberry Menthol. They are not in this ice collection because menthol is not ice, but if the ice profiles are not cold or dry enough for you, they are the next step.

Ice in bottled e-liquid

If you use a refillable device, bottled liquid is cheaper per millilitre than any prefilled pod and includes ice profiles that appear nowhere else.

10ml nicotine salts at £2.49 — roughly 25p per millilitre, the cheapest liquid in the catalogue. Nine ice listings in the Pro Max Nic Salts range: Watermelon Ice, Strawberry Raspberry Ice, Cola Ice, Cherry Ice, Banana Ice, Ice Pop, Red Berry Ice, Bubblegum Ice and Bru Ice. The last three exist in no other format at all — Bubblegum Ice and Bru Ice in particular have no device equivalent anywhere in the range.

120ml shortfills at £6.99, 0mg — six ice listings each in the 50/50 and 70/30 lines, and the same six in both: Watermelon Ice, Strawberry Raspberry Ice, Pineapple Ice, Red Apple Ice, Banana Ice and Vimbull Ice. The difference between the two lines is the VG:PG ratio — 50:50 is thinner and suits pod coils, 70:30 is thicker, produces more vapour and suits larger sub-ohm coils.

Reading a Hayati ice listing

A few naming conventions repeat across the ice catalogue and are worth knowing before you order.

• A slash means two flavours in one device, not a choice at checkout. Cherry Ice / Peach Mango is a single Pro Ultra Plus product carrying both.
• "Ice" at the end means the fruit named before it, cooled. Watermelon Ice is watermelon with cooling, not a separate flavour called watermelon-ice.
• "Cooler" and "Frozen" are used interchangeably with ice by some listings — Kiwi Cooler and Blue Frozen both carry a cooling finish.
• "Smooth", as in Smooth Strawberry Ice, signals a softer, creamier interpretation rather than a sharper one.
• "Vim" and "Vimbull" both denote the dark-berry soft-drink profile; the first appears on devices, the second in bottles.
• "Straw'" is simply strawberry, truncated to fit the label, as in Straw' Cranberry Cherry.
• Not every cooled product says "ice". Blue Frozen and Kiwi Cooler on the Pro Max Plus both carry a cooling finish without the word appearing in the name, so it is worth reading the description rather than relying on the label alone.

Knowing these will save you from the two most common ordering surprises: buying a paired kit when you only wanted one of the flavours, and buying something labelled "cooler" expecting it to be uncooled. If you are ever unsure what a name refers to, the specification on the product page lists puff rating, capacity and nicotine strength, and those three figures identify the range a pod belongs to even when the flavour name does not.

Ice nicotine pouches

Four of the eleven Hayati Nicotine Pouches carry a cooling profile: Ice Cold, Mango Ice, Grape Ice and Banana Ice, all 12mg and £4.49. Add Frosted Mint and five of eleven are cooling-led, which is typical of the pouch category generally.

These are not vapes. They are tobacco-free pouches placed between the lip and the gum — no device, no battery, no vapour. Cooling works differently in an oral pouch than in vapour, reading as a steady sensation rather than a burst on the inhale, so do not assume Banana Ice as a pouch will feel like Banana Ice as a pod. Cooled berry

How the devices work

Four of the five Hayati device ranges are prefilled pod systems and they all work the same way regardless of what is in the pod.

The device splits into a battery section — cell, airflow sensor, USB-C port — and a sealed pod holding liquid, coil and mouthpiece in one unit. The pod seats magnetically; push it in until it sits flush and the contacts meet. There is no fire button, because the airflow sensor closes the circuit when you draw and opens it when you stop. All four ranges are restricted mouth-to-lung devices, meaning you draw vapour into your mouth first and then inhale, rather than taking a direct lung hit.

The capacity figures — 4ml on a Mini Ultra, 12ml on a Rubik or Pro Max Plus, 22ml on a Pro Ultra Plus — are total liquid rather than what sits in the chamber at any moment. UK law caps the nicotine-containing chamber you draw from at 2ml, and these devices comply by keeping the rest in a sealed reserve that tops the chamber up automatically as it empties. The reserve is factory-sealed and cannot be accessed or refilled.

The Quokka range is different: it is refillable, so its pod is 2ml flat and you fill it from a bottle yourself. That is the whole reason a refillable pod is 2ml while a prefilled one can be 22ml — one is what you can legally fill, the other is what a sealed system may hold in total.

When cooling works and when it does not

Ice is not a universally better version of a flavour, and being deliberate about when you reach for it will save you money.

Where cooling helps

On very sweet profiles, where the cold gives the sugar something to push against — this is why cooled berry works so well. On short, bright fruits like pineapple, where cooling stretches a finish that would otherwise vanish. And on simple single-note profiles, where there is no complexity for the cooling to flatten.

Where cooling gets in the way

On complex multi-fruit blends, where it compresses the layers into one impression. On profiles with a long natural finish, where the added length becomes wearing. And on subtle or delicate flavours — which is part of why Lychee Ice divides opinion, since lychee is a floral, low-intensity profile and the cooling competes with it rather than supporting it.

Seasonal and situational

Plenty of customers run a cooled flavour in summer and an uncooled one in winter, which is a sensible response to the fact that cooling sensation intensifies in cold air. It is also common to keep an ice profile as a second flavour rather than a primary one, because cooling resets the palate effectively — which is the same reason mint works as a rotation flavour. If everything has started tasting flat, an ice profile will usually fix it faster than another uncooled fruit.

Five mistakes people make buying ice vapes

1. Expecting mint

The single most common one. Ice is a cooling agent over a fruit. If you want mint, buy Fresh Mint.

2. Assuming all ice is equally cold

Cooling intensity varies considerably between profiles. Ice Pop and Double Menthol sit at the cold end; Smooth Strawberry Ice and Red Apple Ice are much gentler. If a first ice flavour was too much, try a softer one rather than abandoning the category.

3. Buying ice to mask a tired pod

Cooling does hide a fading coil, which sounds useful and is not. It means you carry on using a pod past the point where the wick is struggling, which is how you end up with a genuinely burnt draw. Judge a pod by the fruit, not the cold.

4. Ordering pods for the wrong range

Pods are not interchangeable between Hayati ranges. A Rubik pod will not fit a Pro Max Plus battery, and neither will fit a Mini Ultra. Check which range your device came from before restocking — it is the most common ordering error we see.

5. Paying flagship prices to test a flavour

The liquid in a £11.99 Pro Ultra Plus is not a superior version of the liquid in a £3.49 Mini Ultra pod. You are buying capacity, not flavour quality. Test cheaply, then scale up.

Strawberry Raspberry Ice again makes a clean worked example, because it exists everywhere. All figures are per millilitre on the consumable price, which is what you pay once you own the hardware.

More than three to one between the cheapest and the most expensive prefilled option, for the same flavour. Worth knowing before you settle on a device — though bear in mind that cheaper per millilitre does not mean cheaper overall if you end up vaping more of it.

Living with a cooled pod

Getting the best from a cooled pod

Cooling agents behave slightly differently from flavour compounds in a pod, and a few habits help.

• Prime every new pod. Fit it, stand it upright two or three minutes, then take three or four gentle draws without inhaling. Cooling agents mask a dry note more effectively than fruit does, which means you can scorch a wick on an ice pod without immediately noticing.
• Let a cold pod warm up. A pod brought in from a freezing car produces a much harsher cold sensation and muted fruit. Give it twenty minutes at room temperature before judging it.
• Keep draws short. Two to three seconds. Long draws outpace the wick, and on an ice profile the cooling will partly hide it until the damage is done.
• Expect the cooling to outlast the fruit. As a pod ages the fruit fades first and the cold stays. That is normal, and it is your cue to reorder.
• Store upright and cool. Heat thins liquid and degrades flavour compounds faster than anything else in ordinary use.
• If it tastes burnt, stop. A dried wick does not recover. If it happened on a fresh pod within the first day, contact us.

Common faults

• No vapour, no light: dried liquid on the contacts. Wipe the pod base and battery pins with a dry tissue and refit firmly.
• No vapour, light flashing: flat battery. All Hayati batteries charge over USB-C.
• Draw cutting off part-way: the protection circuit limiting an over-long draw. Shorten it.
• Gurgling or liquid at the mouthpiece: condensation, usually after a temperature change. Tap the mouthpiece on a tissue and wipe it.

Never open, puncture or attempt to refill a sealed prefilled pod. They are not built for it, and forcing liquid through the mouthpiece floods the chamber.

Building a rotation around an ice flavour

Palate fatigue is the reason people who vape one flavour continuously report that it "stopped tasting of anything" after a fortnight. Your sense of smell adapts to a constant stimulus and stops registering it. A second flavour fixes it; a stronger version of the same flavour does not.

Ice profiles are unusually good rotation partners because the cooling resets the palate in a way another fruit does not. Three combinations that work reliably:

• Cooled fruit plus uncooled berry. Watermelon Ice alongside Blueberry Raspberry. The cold and the jammy sweetness sit far enough apart that neither dulls the other.

Nicotine, strength and UK compliance

Almost every ice prefilled pod here is 20mg/ml nicotine salt, the UK maximum. The exceptions are the 10mg, 5mg and zero-nicotine Pro Max Plus pods. Bottled nic salts are 10mg, the 120ml shortfills are 0mg, and nicotine pouches are 12mg per pouch.

• Nicotine-containing e-liquid may not exceed 20mg/ml in the UK.
